Campus Principal’s Welcome

Rhys Evans

My name is Rhys Evans and I have the privilege of being Campus Principal at 15 Mile Creek.

I would like to start by acknowledging the Victorian Aboriginal people as Australia’s first nation’s peoples and the custodians of the land and waterways upon which we depend.   We acknowledge Victoria’s Aboriginal communities and culture and pay respect to their elders past, present and emerging.

Outdoor School is a P-12 Residential School within the Victoria Department of Education. The 15 Mile Creek Campus is located in North East Victoria at Greta South. Approximately twenty minutes south of Wangaratta. We also form part of the ROSA group of schools that provide high quality Outdoor Education Programs.

Our Vision is to “educate for sustainable living” and develop “future ready young people”.

We have an amazing group of teachers who have developed programs based directly on the Victorian Curriculum.  Programs that we offer include

  • Challenge and Grow.
  • Leadership (Single School).
  • Exploring the environment.
  • Future Makers (Year 9).
  • Special School Programs.
  • Leadership (Network Model).
  • Extension Programs.

Many of the Outdoor School programs at 15 Mile Creek include curriculum content from the Personal and Social capability, assisting students to develop leadership, resilience and collaboration skills. We also encourage critical thinking and an understanding of the natural world. Every student receives a report at the end of their program reporting on what they have achieved in relation to the Victorian curriculum.

We hope that students leaving our school have developed an understanding of the value of contributing positively to society.

Programs are generally 5 to 12 days in length giving students time to consolidate their learning and develop relationships with staff and other students.

Please feel free to contact the school if you have any questions.

Thanks Rhys Evans
